Overdose - 1991 (Contemporary Dance)

"Overdose" was the first solo piece to conquer several prizes throughout Brazil in 1991, and gave Renato Leão acknowledgement as a ballet dancer and choreographer.

Overdose talks about a young man addicted to drugs, and the sad changes in his behavior; from ecstasy to overdose.

"Urban Meetings" - "Encontros Urbanos" - 1992  (Contemporary Dance)

 

"Encontros Urbanos" - "Urban Meetings" was created in 1992 for Emproarte Theater Company under Magali Bueno's direction.
This work opened a cycle in Renato Leão's career subsequently it started to be performed by Fato Dance Company.
The work talks about big metropolis with their political and social habits, their own rhythm of routine events to the unusualness. Various stories which are lost within the anonymous life of people, marked by meetings and divergences, where unique types of citizens and those who pass without even being noticed, each inside his own problem, keep their own mystery in silence.

"Metamorfose" - "Metamorphosis" Created in 1995 for Fato Dance Company.
The society creates patterns and values to which people try to fit, hiding the faulty and real beings that they are.
However in some point of life the transformation is unavoidable, they undress their fantasies, break up with the acceptable and show up their real face. Leaving people who follow it always with a doubt about trying what is forbidden.

Alegria Alegria 2000 (Contemporary Dance)

 

This work was created in 2000 for Fato Dance Company. "ALEGRIA ALEGRIA" - "Joy Joy" is a contemporaneous dance spectacle which shows the Joy and Happiness of the Circus through their laughter and dancing.

It aims the public in general, mainly children, with the purpose of awakening their imagination.

As a research source, it uses works conducted with circus schools, people directly linked to circus spectacles, films and documentaries about the life of several "clowns" or circus companies which are famous nowadays.

Familia Z-1998 (Contemporary Dance)

 

Capoeira in Japan This work ."Familia Z" - "Z Family" was created, researched and developed by Renato Leão and Sergio Luiz in 1998

Currently it is part of Fato Dance Company's repertoire.

A contemporaneous dance which depicts the problems faced by youngsters who live on the streets, from the moment they wake up to the time they go to time.

It aims to alert society in general about the problems which youngsters face when they live on the streets.

Its research sources are newspaper articles, interviews, news services and open-field research.

The researchers were able to compose the characters and develop scenes related to themes such as:

THE DAWN, THE HUNGER, IN SEARCH OF SMALL COINS, THE BEST FRIEND - THE DRUGS DEALER, THE POLICE RAID, THE REBELLION AND THE COLD. "THE UNION OF Z Family".

"Raça" - "Race" is a Mix Technics with Capoeira and Contemporary Dance.
